Abstract
Active consultation and coordination with institutional counterparts within the Government of El Salvador (GOES) and civil society organizations (CSOs) facilitated the implementation of Project activities. JSSP personnel effectively expanded and strengthened the Community Policing Model (CPM), the Attorney General's Office (AGO) Rapid Response Units (RRUs), and the Domestic Violence Initiatives (DVIs) and Rape Crisis Centers (RCCs). The JSSP provided significant support to the National Judicial Council (NJC) and the Supreme Court (SC) to progress Judicial Evaluation, Restorative Justice, Transparency, and Citizen Participation components. The project continued to build upon previous successes to sustain critical programs and enhance institutional capabilities. Key activities included the development of a National Crime Policy and inter-institutional protocols in the justice sector in coordination with the Technical Executing Unit (UTE) of the Justice Sector Coordinating Commission. The expansion of the Community Policing Model (CPM) aimed to improve community relationships and enhance public safety. The AGO Rapid Response Units (RRUs) were established to provide swift and effective responses to critical incidents. Domestic Violence Initiatives (DVIs) and Rape Crisis Centers (RCCs) were strengthened to provide support services to victims of violence. The National Judicial Council (NJC) and the Supreme Court (SC) received support to progress Judicial Evaluation, Restorative Justice, Transparency, and Citizen Participation components. The project's focus on building institutional capabilities and sustaining critical programs is crucial for the long-term success of the justice sector in El Salvador. The development of a National Crime Policy and inter-institutional protocols will help to improve coordination and cooperation among justice sector institutions. The completion of a "Leadership and Organizational Change" course conducted by the Escuela Superior de Economía y Negocios (ESEN) aimed to enhance leadership and management skills within the justice sector. The JSSP's efforts to strengthen the justice sector in El Salvador are critical for improving public safety, enhancing access to justice, and promoting transparency and accountability. The project's progress during this reporting period demonstrates its commitment to building a more effective and efficient justice sector in El Salvador.
