Abstract
The program aims to improve the quality of education in Liberia, particularly for children in primary school. The program focuses on numeracy and literacy skills, as well as the development of critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. The program's assessment framework is designed to evaluate student progress in numeracy and literacy skills. The Level 1 Assessment Form A is a tool used to assess student understanding of basic numeracy concepts, including counting, addition, and subtraction. The assessment consists of 15 questions that test students' ability to perform various numeracy tasks, such as counting objects, matching numbers with words, and solving simple addition and subtraction problems. The assessment is divided into several sections, each focusing on a specific numeracy skill. Section 1 tests students' ability to listen to numbers and write them down. Section 2 assesses students' counting skills, including counting objects and matching numbers with words. Section 3 evaluates students' understanding of ordinal numbers and their ability to write numbers in order. Section 4 tests students' ability to write numbers from smallest to largest. Section 5 focuses on students' ability to fill in missing numbers in a sequence. Section 6 assesses students' counting skills by tens and ones, as well as their ability to color in one-fourth of a shape. Section 7 tests students' ability to count blocks by hundreds, tens, and ones. Section 8 evaluates students' understanding of fractions and their ability to circle the shape that shows one-third colored in. Section 9 tests students' ability to count blocks by hundreds, tens, and ones. Section 10 assesses students' understanding of shapes and their ability to circle the shape that shows one-third colored in. Section 11 evaluates students' ability to compare fractions and circle the larger fraction. Section 12 tests students' ability to solve simple addition problems. Section 13 assesses students' ability to solve simple subtraction problems. Section 14 uses a number line to solve addition and subtraction problems. Section 15 tests students' ability to compare numbers and circle the smaller number. The assessment results are used to evaluate student progress and identify areas where students need additional support. The results can also be used to inform instruction and make data-driven decisions about program implementation.
