Abstract
The program is implemented by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in partnership with the Ministry of Education (MOE). The program focuses on enhancing the literacy and numeracy skills of Liberian children. Numeracy skills are a critical component of the program, and assessments are conducted to evaluate the progress of students. The Level 1 Assessment Form B is a tool used to evaluate the numeracy skills of students in Liberia. The assessment consists of various sections that test students' ability to perform basic arithmetic operations, count objects, and understand number concepts. The assessment includes questions that test students' ability to listen to numbers and write them down, count objects, and write the word for a given number. Students are also required to solve addition and subtraction problems, identify the larger number between two options, and use a number line to solve equations. Additionally, students are tested on their ability to recognize and name shapes. The assessment is designed to evaluate students' understanding of basic numeracy concepts and their ability to apply these concepts to solve problems. The results of the assessment are used to identify areas where students need additional support and to inform the development of targeted interventions to improve numeracy skills. The program's focus on numeracy skills is critical to improving the overall quality of education in Liberia. By enhancing students' numeracy skills, the program aims to improve their ability to succeed in school and in life. The program's efforts are also expected to contribute to the development of a more educated and skilled workforce in Liberia. The Accelerated Quality Education for Liberian Children program is a critical component of USAID's efforts to improve education in Liberia. The program's focus on numeracy skills and its use of assessments to evaluate student progress are key strategies for improving the quality of education in Liberia. By working in partnership with the MOE, the program aims to make a lasting impact on the education sector in Liberia.
