Abstract
The project is implemented by Tetra Tech Global Services and is part of the USAID Liberia Municipal Water Project. The project's overall goal is to increase access to safe and reliable water services for urban and rural communities in Liberia. The project is divided into six tasks: Task 2: Capital Improvement Project (CIP) Oversight and Warranty; Task 3: Transitional Management of Water-Supply Improvement; Task 4: Capacity Building; Task 5: Coordination with Other Donors/ Stakeholders; Task 6: Planning and Reporting. Each task is designed to address specific challenges and opportunities in the water sector in Liberia. Task 2 focuses on the oversight of CIP construction and warranty activities, including the provision of technical assistance to the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC). Task 3 involves the transitional management of water supply improvements, including the development of business plans for outstations and the provision of technical assistance to LWSC. Task 4 is dedicated to capacity building, including the implementation of the LMWP II Capacity Building Plan, the development of a Water Utility Capacity Building Tool, and the establishment of a twinning relationship with the National Water and Sewer Corporation (NWSC) for technical support and capacity building. Task 5 involves coordination with other donors and stakeholders, including USAID, the Liberia WASH Sector, and other partner programs. Task 6 focuses on planning and reporting, including regular reporting, household-level surveys, and the development of success stories and USAID snapshots. The project has made significant progress in the third quarter of 2019, with several achievements reported. These include the completion of CIP construction and warranty activities, the development of business plans for outstations, and the provision of technical assistance to LWSC. The project has also made progress in capacity building, including the implementation of the LMWP II Capacity Building Plan and the establishment of a twinning relationship with NWSC.
