Abstract
IICA will help the Consortium for International Crop Protection (CICP) prepare an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of pesticides used in the MOSCAMED program, which is a cooperative effort of the United States, Mexico, and Guatemala to eradicate the Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitus capitata) from Southern Mexico and Guatemala. Project activities will include collecting samples from the field and analyzing them, researching existing subject matter material, and preparing periodic reports and developing an EIA. In addition, three meetings will be held - a start-up workshop for primary institutions actually involved in the EIA, a briefing to obtain input from commodity and environmental groups, and a presentation of a draft EIA.
