480 Title I Agreement with the Government of the Dominican Republic (GODR). The program"s local currency generations will be used to provide: (1) credit through intermediate financial institutions (IFI"s), including start-up and operational costs of PVO"s and other private organizations desiring to function as IFI"s; and (2) TA to develop and expand local markets for U.S. agricultural commodities and to expand the private sector"s role in the agricultural sector. The GODR commits itself to: (1) promoting agribusiness development; (2) promoting agricultural diversification and reducing food subsidies; and (3) continue efforts to upgrade irrigation facilities/management and storage and marketing infrastructure and to protect watersheds serving the main irrigation system.
