Abstract
The project is part of the USAID's efforts to improve Palestinians' access to basic infrastructure and services, thereby contributing to the Palestinian economy. The TWCP focuses on rehabilitating and upgrading the existing wastewater collection system, including the Irtah Pump Station (IPS), which has been unable to meet the required capacity. The project's objectives are to improve public health and environmental conditions by providing a safe and reliable wastewater collection system. The project's scope includes the rehabilitation of the IPS, construction of new sewer lines, and installation of new pumping stations. The TWCP also involves the development of a comprehensive environmental mitigation and monitoring plan (EMMP) to ensure that the project's activities do not harm the environment. The project's implementation is being carried out by The Morganti Group, Inc. (TMGI) under a task order contract with USAID. The project's progress is monitored and reported on a monthly basis, with the current report covering the period from February 1 to February 28, 2023. Key activities undertaken during this reporting period include the delivery of materials and equipment to the project site, implementation of traffic control measures, and community outreach programs. The project team also conducted site visits, inspections, and quality control tests to ensure that the work is being carried out in accordance with the project's specifications and standards. The project's progress is being tracked using various indicators, including the completion of construction activities, the number of households served, and the reduction of wastewater flow into open wadis. The project's schedule is being managed using the critical path method (CPM), with regular meetings and coordination with stakeholders to ensure that the project is completed on time and within budget. The TWCP is expected to have a significant impact on the health and environmental conditions of the people of Tulkarem, as well as the overall Palestinian economy. The project's success will depend on the effective implementation of its activities, close coordination with stakeholders, and continuous monitoring and evaluation of its progress.
