Abstract
The meeting was organized by Epicentar International, the Chamber of Commerce of Macedonia, and the Federation of Farmers of the Republic of Macedonia, with support from the USAID's Agricultural Business Program. The purpose of the meeting was to introduce Macedonian producers and exporters of table grapes and fresh fruits to the specifics and requirements of the Slovakian market, as well as to familiarize Slovakian importers with Macedonian production and export opportunities. The meeting aimed to improve the overall performance of Macedonian producers on the Slovakian market and create partnerships between the agricultural business sectors of the two countries. During the meeting, Slovakian importers had the opportunity to visit some Macedonian producers and exporters of table grapes from the Tikves region. This meeting was the third in a series of meetings aimed at improving the competitiveness and sales of Macedonian fresh fruits and vegetables. The previous two meetings were held in September with importers from Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The USAID, through the Agricultural Business Program, supports the economic growth of Macedonia by improving the competitiveness of the Macedonian agricultural business. The goal is to increase the income of all participants in the selected value chains through increased exports and productivity, as well as improved business climate in agriculture. The USAID has invested over $500 million in Macedonia since 1993. The organization implements projects that create jobs, reduce corruption, and prepare Macedonian students to become a successful workforce. These initiatives improve the quality of life and support Macedonia's transition to a stable and prosperous democracy. The USAID provides economic and humanitarian assistance to over 100 countries worldwide.
