Abstract
These include the fear of being ridiculed by students, the difficulty of maintaining discipline and controlling misbehaving students, and the challenge of responding to complex questions from students. The teacher may also feel overwhelmed by the lack of preparation and resources available. To address these challenges, the training program aims to equip teachers with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively manage the classroom and engage students in the learning process. The program consists of nine units, each focusing on a specific aspect of teaching and learning. The first unit, "Quality and National Standards," provides an overview of the relationship between theory and teaching practices. The second unit, "Lesson Planning," covers the objectives, procedures, and evaluation of lesson plans. The third unit, "Teaching Strategies," focuses on active learning and the importance of student participation. The program also includes units on technology and educational tools, classroom management, and assessment and evaluation. The training program aims to improve the performance of assistant teachers in Rwanda by enhancing their skills and knowledge in teaching and learning. The training program is designed to be practical and applicable, with a focus on developing the skills and knowledge needed to effectively teach and manage a classroom. The program includes a range of activities and exercises to help participants develop their skills and confidence. The training program is divided into two phases, with the first phase focusing on the basics of teaching and learning, and the second phase focusing on more advanced topics such as technology and educational tools. The program includes a range of resources and materials to support participants in their learning, including textbooks, workbooks, and online resources. The training program is designed to be flexible and adaptable, with a focus on meeting the needs of participants and the context in which they work. The program includes a range of assessment and evaluation tools to help participants track their progress and identify areas for improvement. The training program is delivered through a range of methods, including lectures, discussions, group work, and practical exercises.
