The Pakistan IEP Data Source Catalog is a comprehensive directory of major periodical information sources published by various organizations relating to Pakistan's energy sector and the economy in general.
2021 · 95 pages

Abstract
The catalog was developed by USAID's Sustainable Energy for Pakistan (SEP) project as part of its technical assistance to the Government of Pakistan for implementing an institutionalized integrated energy planning mechanism and capability in the country. The catalog provides a listing of 21 major periodical information sources, including reports, yearbooks, and statistical publications from various organizations such as the Hydrocarbon Development Institute of Pakistan (HDIP), Petroleum Institute of Pakistan (PIP), Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), and National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA). These sources cover a wide range of topics, including energy production, consumption, and trade, as well as economic indicators and demographic data. The catalog is organized in a structured format, with a main table of contents listing each of the distinct sources covered, along with the publishing organization and the corresponding catalog page containing that publication's own table of contents. A subject index at the end of the document provides a more precise identification of specific information across all data sources, allowing users to quickly search for the required information without necessarily knowing the exact label under which it may be indexed. The catalog's main purpose is to facilitate quick identification and access to relevant data required by various energy sector stakeholders as part of planning, research, or decision-making processes. It can also provide a starting point for designing a national energy information database and portal for the country, one of the stated objectives of the IEP initiative spearheaded by the Energy Planning and Resource Centre (EPRC). The catalog's use can save valuable time in locating the required data and aid in better understanding of available information resources. It can also help identify deficiencies for future remediation and provide a comprehensive overview of the topics contained in each publication. The catalog's page numbering changes temporarily when the fields are made visible, so the relevant page(s) referred to in the index should be noted before turning on field visibility. The catalog's main sources include the Pakistan Energy Yearbook, 2019, published by the Hydrocarbon Development Institute of Pakistan (HDIP); the Pakistan Energy Outlook, 2019, published by the Petroleum Institute of Pakistan (PIP); the State of Regulated Petroleum Industry, 2018-19, published by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA); and the Pakistan Oil Report, 2018-19, published by the Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC). Other sources include the Petroleum Division Yearbook, 2017-18, published by the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division); the State of the Industry Report, 2020, published by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA); and the Performance Evaluation Report: NTDC and K-Electric, 2018-19, published by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).
