Abstract
This project is promoted by the Asociación Civil TRANS-PARENCIA in coordination with the Agencia de los Estados Unidos para el Desarrollo Internacional – USAID/Perú. The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between parliamentarians and citizens. The project focuses on three key areas: promoting the adoption of rules and practices that allow for greater specialization of parliamentary committees, encouraging the use of inclusive and decentralized mechanisms for debate to promote citizen participation, and strengthening the ability of the Congreso to account to the population through public hearings. The initiative also prioritizes areas such as ethics in politics, gender equity, and parliamentary representation. The project concentrates on areas of priority work, aiming to promote topics such as political and electoral reforms, strengthening the representation function of the Congreso, promoting and disseminating parliamentary ethics, and increasing the political participation of women. To achieve these goals, the initiative works closely with parliamentarians, parliamentary committees, and party blocs to strengthen capacities and enhance legislative work. The initiative also generates objective information about parliamentary work and its relationship with the well-being of the population. This includes providing the public with knowledge of the functions, responsibilities, and restrictions of parliamentarians, establishing strategic alliances with the media to promote the dissemination of topics that link citizens with parliamentary work, and promoting the use of inclusive and decentralized mechanisms for debate. The project seeks to generate spaces for evaluation and strategic planning within parliamentary groups to promote coordinated actions that optimize parliamentary work. The initiative aims to establish precise indicators of performance, replicable evaluation methodologies, and efficient coordination to improve parliamentary work.
