Abstract
This document presents the assessment for El Salvador. Chapter Two provides background information on the country as it relates to women"s economic participation. Chapter Three reviews key "entry points" for strengthening women"s economic participation in the country, along with methods for exploiting them. The key "entry points" include: counting and defining women"s work; developing training strategies that link supply and demand; breaking the glass ceiling" between microenterprise and small business; increasing legal and economic literacy; promoting organizational coordination; and developing child care services on a cost-recovery basis. Chapter Four presents lengthy gender analyses of Uganda"s labor market, business development, and organizational development. Annexes contain an action plan for POWER to pursue in El Salvador, labor market tables, and a list of references and a list of in-country contacts.
