USAID. MISSION TO HONDURAS
Presents final Mission report on a local currency grant (1985-91) to finance scholarships for financially disadvantaged Honduran students at Escuela Agricola Panamericana (EAP), a regional 4-year agricultural secondary school also known as El Zamorano.

Abstract
The project was a success. A total of 378 1-year scholarships to EAP were financed; of these 83 went to women, the remainder to men. Twenty-six of the female recipients and 114 of the male recipients completed the entire 4-year program and received their degrees. EAP has a rigorous academic program, but also provides excellent practical preparation for the world of agricultural work. Graduates are highly sought after. Perhaps the simplicity of the grant is what contributed most to its success. It was not encumbered by numerous components or unreachable outputs. Also, the grantee is an educational institution with well-established standards, and very capable of determining the eligibility of potential scholarship students as well as their financial need. Third, EAP"s excellent training ensured that the grant would over time have a positive impact on Honduran agriculture.
