Abstract
The training aimed to equip the steering committee members with the necessary skills to conduct a survey and focus group discussions in eight provinces. The survey will cover the processing of violence against women court cases in 10 provinces, with a focus on provinces with an Appellate Prosecution Directorate and established court systems that act to end violence against women. The Violence Against Women Coalition met with its steering committee members to discuss revised policy objectives and agreed on a specific action plan to advocate for the implementation of the Elimination of Violence Against Women Law. The committee decided to conduct a survey in 10 provinces, with a focus on provinces with an Appellate Prosecution Directorate and established court systems that act to end violence against women. The regional and grants teams focused on helping the first group of grantees complete their required reporting requirements for the Musharikat project. As of the end of the reporting period, all but two grantees had submitted their final reports for review. The grants team also created an effective Request for Applications (RFA) to guide the second group of grantees in 2018. The advocacy and technical teams continued to build capacity for the more recently created coalitions, including Women's Leadership Development (WLD) and Women's Participation in Government (WIG). The teams led content development for the upcoming Regional Campaign Planning Sessions, which will take place in February and March. Feedback and lessons learned from the first round of planning sessions for the first three coalitions conducted in 2016-2017 have been incorporated into the new sessions. The project's focus on coalition building and capacity development has led to the creation of new coalitions, including Women's Leadership Development (WLD) and Women's Participation in Government (WIG). The project's emphasis on evidence-based advocacy campaigns has also led to the development of research skills among coalition members. The project's goal is to promote gender equality in national priority programs and to support the implementation of the Elimination of Violence Against Women Law. The project's progress in January 2018 is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the project team. The project's focus on coalition building and capacity development has led to the creation of new coalitions and the development of research skills among coalition members. The project's emphasis on evidence-based advocacy campaigns has also led to the development of research skills among coalition members. The project's goal is to promote gender equality in national priority programs and to support the implementation of the Elimination of Violence Against Women Law.
