Abstract
The seminar was organized by the USPCAS-W and featured speakers Christine Pomeroy and Jim VanDerslice from the University of Utah. Christine Pomeroy is an Associate Professor in the Urban Water Engineering & Sustainability Group at the University of Utah. She has over 15 years of experience in stormwater management, watershed management, and water resources. Pomeroy earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Michigan State University, a M.S. in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University, and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University. She is a registered professional engineer in Michigan. Jim VanDerslice is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine at the University of Utah. He also serves as Research Associate Professor in Health Promotion and Education and Adjunct Associate Professor in Biomedical Informatics Research. VanDerslice has a strong research background and has published numerous papers on various topics. The seminar proceedings began with welcome remarks by Dr. Kamran Ansari, Deputy Project Director of USPCAS-W. The seminar focused on the challenges and options for providing safe drinking water to consumers. Dr. Jim VanDerslice delivered the opening speech, highlighting the problems associated with the supply of clean drinking water to consumers. He discussed the issues in the context of the USA and Pakistani perspectives and presented potential solutions. Christine Pomeroy delivered the second speech, informing the students about the latest developments in the pursuit of supplying clean drinking water. Her talk was accentuated with the latest research in the relevant field, and she informed the participants about her upcoming survey in the context of the "MUET Clean Water Project." The seminar concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Kamran Ansari, who thanked the faculty members and students for their active participation. He expressed his desire to continue the tradition of organizing informative seminars at USPCAS-W. The seminar aimed to provide a platform for experts to share their knowledge and experiences on the challenges and options for providing safe drinking water to consumers. The event was attended by faculty members, students, and hydraulics enthusiasts, and it provided a valuable opportunity for knowledge sharing and networking.
