Abstract
The program aimed to improve student performance in reading, writing, and math, as well as social and emotional learning, and national level service delivery of education in Lebanon. The initiative was implemented through adaptations to address the unique needs of the Lebanese education system. Progress was made in achieving the program's outcomes. In reading, writing, and math, teachers delivered evidence-based instruction, and educational materials and equipment were used in the classroom. The use of digital tools, such as the Bon A Diffuser platform, facilitated collaborative e-content production and improved the quality of educational materials. The program also focused on social and emotional learning, with teachers adopting methodologies that promoted SEL in the classroom and schools adopting mechanisms to engage caregivers in their children's learning. The initiative also made progress in improving national level service delivery of education. Technical and administrative support was provided to the Center for Educational Research and Development (CRDP) and the General Directorate of Education (GDE) based on institutional capacity assessments. A learning agenda was set for the modernization of the Lebanese curriculum, and a framework for social emotional learning was developed and implemented. Monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning activities were conducted throughout the quarter. The program used a range of tools and templates to track progress and identify areas for improvement. Communication with stakeholders was also a key focus, with regular updates and reports provided to the USAID Agreement Officer Representative. Financial management and operations were also a key aspect of the program. The initiative was managed by World Learning Inc., and financial reports were submitted to the USAID Agreement Officer Representative. Challenges and constraints were also identified and addressed throughout the quarter, with a focus on ensuring the program's sustainability and impact. The scope of work for the next quarter included continued implementation of the program's outcomes, as well as further development of the social emotional learning framework and the Lebanese curriculum. The initiative also planned to continue its monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning activities, as well as its communication with stakeholders. The QITABI 2 initiative made significant progress in improving student performance, social and emotional learning, and national level service delivery of education in Lebanon. The program's use of digital tools and its focus on teacher training and support were key factors in its success. The initiative's continued implementation and evaluation will be critical to ensuring its long-term impact and sustainability.
