Abstract
The program is implemented by MEDA Economic Development Associates in collaboration with various stakeholders, including the government, donors, and other organizations. The program's main objective is to contribute to efficient and effective LLIN mass campaigns, as well as to ensure ongoing and more sustainable distribution of LLINs. To achieve this, the program has identified three key strategies: (1) to contribute to efficient and effective LLIN mass campaigns, (2) to contribute to effective and efficient initiatives that ensure ongoing and more sustainable distribution of LLINs, and (3) to support the development of improved systems for management, training, and monitoring and evaluation. The first strategy focuses on contributing to efficient and effective LLIN mass campaigns. This is achieved through the Infant Voucher (IV) program, which provides vouchers to pregnant women to purchase LLINs from designated retailers. The IV program has shown significant progress, with over 2.5 million vouchers distributed to districts across the country. The program has also seen a high redemption rate, with over 90% of vouchers redeemed. The second strategy focuses on contributing to effective and efficient initiatives that ensure ongoing and more sustainable distribution of LLINs. This is achieved through the expansion and strengthening of the commercial supply chain, which includes the recruitment of new retailers, strengthening of retailer inventory, and tracking of LLIN sales to retail outlets. The program has also implemented the eVoucher program, which allows for electronic redemption of vouchers and has shown significant growth in issuances and redemptions. The third strategy focuses on supporting the development of improved systems for management, training, and monitoring and evaluation. This includes the development of human resources, risk management for minimizing fraud, operations, monitoring and evaluation, and information technology. The program has also implemented a fleet management system to track the movement of goods and services. The program has made significant progress in achieving its objectives, with over 2.5 million LLINs distributed to pregnant women and children under the age of five. The program has also seen a significant reduction in malaria cases, with a 27% decrease in malaria-related deaths reported in the first quarter of 2012. The program has also received recognition from various stakeholders, including the government and donors, for its efforts in contributing to the reduction of malaria cases in Tanzania. The program's success can be attributed to the collaboration and coordination among various stakeholders, including the government, donors, and other organizations. The program has also implemented various strategies to ensure the sustainability of the program, including the development of human resources, risk management, and information technology. In conclusion, the Tanzania National Voucher Scheme has made significant progress in achieving its objectives, with over 2.5 million LLINs distributed to pregnant women and children under the age of five. The program has also seen a significant reduction in malaria cases, with a 27% decrease in malaria-related deaths reported in the first quarter of 2012. The program's success can be attributed to the collaboration and coordination among various stakeholders, including the government, donors, and other organizations.
