2016 · 17 pages

Abstract
The analysis focused on 18 newspapers, including Notícias, O País, Diário de Moçambique, and @Verdade. A total of 36 articles were published on gender, violence based on gender, and human trafficking. The majority of articles on human trafficking focused on the presentation of individuals already detained for their involvement in the crime. The most notable aspect was the severe sentencing of these individuals as a means of discouraging this practice. The Public Prosecutor's Office also continued to take a strong stance against human trafficking, calling for increased vigilance and solutions to address the issue. Violence based on gender was dominated by articles on premature marriages, a widespread practice in Mozambican society. However, the issue gained international attention, with the African Union identifying it as a major problem to be addressed. The articles highlighted the stories of children forced into premature marriages, often at a young age, and subjected to exploitation and violence. The topic of gender focused on the challenges faced by women in a patriarchal society. The president of the Assembly of the Republic, Verónica Macamo, emphasized the importance of women's emancipation in achieving gender equality. The articles highlighted the need for women's integration into politics, economy, and society. The analysis revealed a lack of diversity in sources and a failure to present contradictory views in some articles. However, the articles presented relevant and impactful stories, including cases of child abuse and exploitation. The analysis also highlighted the need for more comprehensive coverage of these issues in the Mozambican media.
