Abstract
The workshop aimed to review the provisional results of the analysis of ASDAP's organizational capacities using the PROGRES tool, developed by Management Sciences for Health (MSH). The analysis focused on 11 key organizational domains. The workshop was facilitated by ASDAP and MSH resource persons. The objectives of the workshop were to present the provisional results of the analysis, integrate the perspectives of stakeholders, and reach a consensus and final analysis. The workshop also aimed to develop the outlines of a capacity-building plan for ASDAP. The USAID Communication et Promotion de la Santé/Keneya Jemu Kan program in Mali is working to strengthen the capacity of local actors to lead social behavior change communication (SBCC) and social marketing (SM) efforts in Mali. The program is led by a consortium including Johns Hopkins University/Center for Communication Programs (JHU/CCP), the Futures Group, Management Sciences for Health (MSH), and the Malian NGO ASDAP. The program's intermediate results include the increased adoption of key health behaviors and increased demand and use of high-impact services and health products at the community and household levels in the program's intervention areas. The program also aims to demonstrate the capacity to conduct research and design, test, implement, and evaluate SBCC and MS activities. The PROGRES tool is an MSH-developed tool for analyzing organizational capacities. The tool helps organizations identify their strengths and weaknesses and stimulates debate among employees and other stakeholders to improve performance. The tool consists of 11 key organizational domains, including governance and leadership, finance and operations, and human resource management. The workshop's agenda included presentations on the context of the program, the development of organizational capacities, and the analysis of organizational capacities using the PROGRES tool. The workshop also included a discussion of the provisional results of the analysis and the development of a capacity-building plan for ASDAP. The USAID Communication et Promotion de la Santé/Keneya Jemu Kan program aims to increase the availability of high-impact health products and services in the program's intervention areas. The program also aims to demonstrate the capacity to conduct research and design, test, implement, and evaluate SBCC and MS activities. The PROGRES tool is a useful tool for analyzing organizational capacities and identifying areas for improvement. The tool's structure includes 11 key organizational domains, each with a set of questions and evaluation criteria to assess the organization's performance. The tool also includes a set of means of verification to guide the choice of evaluation criteria. The workshop's outcome was the development of a capacity-building plan for ASDAP, which will be implemented in collaboration with MSH. The plan aims to improve ASDAP's organizational capacities and enhance its ability to lead SBCC and MS efforts in Mali. The plan will focus on areas such as governance and leadership, finance and operations, and human resource management. The USAID Communication et Promotion de la Santé/Keneya Jemu Kan program is a five-year program that aims to strengthen the capacity of local actors to lead SBCC and MS efforts in Mali. The program is led by a consortium of international and local organizations, including JHU/CCP, the Futures Group, MSH, and ASDAP.
