Restructuring agriculture and agribusiness : cooperative training

and in-country training to Eastern European cooperative personnel. ACDI will implement the project in cooperation with Land O"Lakes. Grant activities will focus on five areas: (1) new private agribusinesses and associations; (2) improved economic results for existing private enterprises; (3) credit and banking services; (4) extension services; and (5) privatization of state agricultural enterprises. U.S. training, to be provided to 62 persons per year, will respond to needs identified by Volunteers in Overseas Cooperative Assistance (VOCA) Farmer-to-Farmer volunteers. Included will be study tours, technical training, on-the-job training at ACDI-affiliates and related short courses at member institutions of the Association of Big Eight Universities, and experiential training on U.S. farms. In- country training, in the form of workshops and courses, will center on agribusiness management/technical operations and rural credit cooperative operations.
