The Programa de Promoción de la Calidad de Medicamentos (PQM) is a program implemented by the U. S. PQM provides technical assistance to countries in development to build local capacity in quality assurance systems, increase the supply of quality medicines to USAID priority health programs, and ensure the quality and safety of medicines worldwide. The PQM program has been working in Peru to promote the quality of medicines and has received support from various institutions, including the Dirección General de Medicamentos, Insumos y Drogas (DIGEMID), the National Center of Quality Control of the National Institute of Health (CNCC-INS), and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) office in Peru. The meeting was attended by representatives from various institutions, including DIGEMID, CNCC, DIRESAs, PAHO, and PQM. The agreements and commitments include the establishment of partnerships between government agencies and nongovernmental stakeholders, the implementation of the Three-Level Approach to complement medicines quality monitoring activities, and the provision of technical assistance to build local capacity in quality assurance systems. The PQM program will continue to work in Peru to promote the quality of medicines and to strengthen medicines quality assurance and quality control systems. The program will provide technical assistance to build local capacity in quality assurance systems, increase the supply of quality medicines to USAID priority health programs, and ensure the quality and safety of medicines worldwide. The meeting was a significant step towards improving the quality of medicines in Peru and strengthening medicines quality assurance and quality control systems. The agreements and commitments reached during the meeting will serve as a basis for improved cooperation between government agencies and will establish partnerships between them and relevant nongovernmental stakeholders.
