USAID. MISSION TO BOTSWANA
Project to promote development in rural Botswana, with emphasis on increasing employment opportunities.
1980
Abstract
The project, to be implemented by host government agencies, consists of subprojects to: (1) strengthen Government of Botswana land use planning and management; (2) increase agricultural productivity and farmer incomes; and (3) promote non-farm rural industries. See abstracts of individual subprojects. Amendment of 7/5/83 authorizes Phase II of the project, which will emphasize increased access to productive employment opportunities. In addition to activities continued from Phase I (see abstracts of subprojects 2 and 3), Phase II will provide Master"s-level U.S. training to 37 District Administration personnel in order to increase districts" capacities for decentralized management of rural development and provide career opportunities for officers in rural areas. Special TA will include a long-term project coordinator, short-term TA as needed, and external evaluations. (PD-AAR-109)
