Abstract
Agency for International Development (USAID) under Cooperative Agreement AID-621-A-15-00003. The project is implemented by Jhpiego Corporation in partnership with EngenderHealth, Inc., Pact, Inc., and the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR). The Sauti Project supports the implementation of the US President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) by providing a package of core services to Key and Vulnerable Populations (KVP) in support of the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania's commitment to HIV prevention. The project's objectives are aligned with the PEPFAR strategy, focusing on biomedical, social and behavior change communication (SBCC)/gender, research and learning agenda, engagement of civil society organizations (CSOs), local government authorities (LGAs), and sustainability, as well as monitoring and evaluation (M&E). The Sauti Project aims to achieve these objectives through a range of interventions, including the implementation of a package of core and expanded biomedical HIV prevention and family planning (FP) interventions, deployment of interventions to reduce individual risk behaviors and strengthen support for positive social norms and structures, and execution of a robust research and learning agenda. In the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2018, the Sauti Project made significant progress towards achieving its objectives. The project implemented a range of activities, including the deployment of interventions to reduce individual risk behaviors and strengthen support for positive social norms and structures, execution of a robust research and learning agenda, and development and implementation of capacity and sustainability building interventions. The project also made progress in building and deploying vigorous monitoring and evaluation systems. The Sauti Project's achievements in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2018 include the implementation of a package of core and expanded biomedical HIV prevention and FP interventions, with enhanced linkages to care and treatment, and support services. The project also deployed interventions designed to reduce individual risk behaviors and strengthen support for positive social norms and structures, and addressed gender at the community level. Additionally, the project executed a robust research and learning agenda, developed and implemented capacity and sustainability building interventions, and built and deployed vigorous monitoring and evaluation systems. The Sauti Project's achievements in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2018 also include the implementation of the Determined Resilient AIDS-free Mentored Safe (DREAMS) Initiative, which aims to reduce the incidence of HIV among adolescent girls and young women (AGYW). The project's DREAMS Initiative included the provision of cash transfers to AGYW, as well as the implementation of a range of other interventions aimed at reducing the risk of HIV among this population. The Sauti Project's achievements in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2018 demonstrate the project's commitment to achieving its objectives and making a positive impact on the lives of Key and Vulnerable Populations in Tanzania. The project's progress towards achieving its objectives is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the project's staff and partners, and highlights the importance of continued support for the project's activities.
