Abstract
The project focuses on the growth of sales as the key benchmark for evaluating performance and takes a market system perspective to address competitiveness issues that are systemic in nature. The project targets four pre-identified functional competitiveness areas: Access to Markets, Access to Finance, Workforce Development, and the Business Environment. The project's approach to implementation is organized functionally, targeting products and value chains with the highest competitiveness potential for Serbia. The project aims to create a "ripple effect" into other value chains, creating momentum for strengthening Serbia's overall competitiveness. To mitigate risk and monitor progress, the project uses Collaborating, Learning and Adapting (CLA) as a fundamental implementation principle. During the second quarter of Year 3, CSS activities showed important progress in fresh produce marketing, which is increasingly becoming a high-value industry segment with strong competitiveness potential. The biggest buyers in the EU were sourcing from Serbia this summer, which should lead to further development of professional export firms. Preparation for the second Belgrade Food Show with the Association for the Promotion of Serbian Food (APSF) was conducted, and all activities under the specialty food segment were mobilized to contribute to this process. The project's activities under the specialty food segment have been mobilized to contribute to the development of professional export firms. Hubs, trades, stakeholders from the financial sector, government, and public sector, university system, retailers, and others have played their roles in this year's show. A visit to a London specialty food show was organized to promote Serbian products and increase visibility in the international market. The project's progress in the second quarter of Year 3 has been significant, with important achievements in fresh produce marketing and the development of professional export firms. The project's activities have been well-coordinated, with all stakeholders playing their roles in contributing to the project's objectives. The project's use of CLA has been effective in mitigating risk and monitoring progress, and the project's approach to implementation has been successful in creating a "ripple effect" into other value chains. The project's focus on the growth of sales as the key benchmark for evaluating performance has been effective in driving progress and achieving results. The project's use of a market system perspective has been successful in addressing competitiveness issues that are systemic in nature, and the project's targeting of products and value chains with the highest competitiveness potential for Serbia has been effective in creating momentum for strengthening Serbia's overall competitiveness.
