Abstract
The program is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and aims to support small-scale projects in various sectors, including vulnerable populations, disaster preparedness, and social entrepreneurship. During the month of May 2016, SGAFP received 15 new applications in priority sectors, with the majority coming from Punjab (6) and Balochistan, KPK/FATA, and GB (2 each). The applications were received in various sectors, with the highest number coming from vulnerable populations (10), followed by disaster preparedness (3) and social entrepreneurship (2). SGAFP submitted 4 fully processed grant summaries with recommendations for award to USAID during the reporting month. As of May 2016, a total of 451 grant summaries had been submitted to USAID, with 30 fully processed grant summaries, including 6 recommended for award, in process with USAID. The total approved grants stood at 176, with 127 grants completed or closed successfully, 45 at various stages of implementation, and 4 at the stage of preparation for grant agreements. SGAFP disbursed US$ 245,976 to 16 grantee organizations during the reporting month, bringing the cumulative disbursement to US$ 11.150 million against the approved grant funds of US$ 14.142 million. SGAFP staff conducted 22 monitoring visits to 20 ongoing grants to gauge the efficacy and efficiency of proceedings, ensure transparency, and offer technical support to the grantees. The staff also submitted an advance request to USAID for operation and grants for the month of June 2016. The statistical abstract provided in the report highlights the achievements of SGAFP during the reporting month and cumulative status as of May 31, 2016.
