Abstract
The program is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and aims to support small-scale projects in various sectors, including vulnerable populations, disaster preparedness, and economic growth. In November 2016, SGAFP received 32 new applications, bringing the total number of applications received to 2,106. The applications were received from 136 districts out of 138 districts in Pakistan, with the majority coming from KPK/FATA (27%), followed by Punjab (22%) and Sindh (16%). The sectoral breakup of the 32 applications received in November 2016 shows that the maximum applications were received under vulnerable populations (9), followed by disaster preparedness (8). SGAFP shared 30 of the received applications with USAID for initial review, bringing the total number of applications shared to 922. USAID-GRC reviewed 845 applications, approving 365 for further processing and considering 480 for no further action. SGAFP also assigned 11 new applications to the Grant Officers for desk review, bringing the total number of cases under desk review to 2,028. During the reporting month, SGAFP completed desk review of 11 recently received applications, bringing the total number of applications completed to 2,028. The program also conducted institutional assessments of 656 applicant organizations and submitted 12 fully processed grant summaries, including 4 recommended for award. The total approved grants stood at 195, with 155 grants completed or closed and 40 at various stages of implementation. SGAFP disbursed $238,663 to 21 grantee organizations during the reporting month, bringing the total disbursement to $12.25 million against the approved grant funds of $15.23 million. The program also conducted 25 monitoring visits to 22 ongoing grants to gauge the efficacy and efficiency of grant performances, ensure transparency, and provide technical support to the grantees. The event calendar indicates the opening ceremony of 11 grants and the closing ceremony of one grant during the month of December 2016 and January 2017. The Statistical Abstract (as of November 2016) presents the achievements during the reporting month as well as the cumulative status as of November 30, 2016. The abstract shows that the program has received 2,106 applications, shared 922 applications with USAID, and reviewed 845 applications. The program has also approved 195 grants, disbursed $12.25 million, and conducted 25 monitoring visits.
