Abstract
The program is supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and is managed by Helen Keller International (HKI) in partnership with several other organizations. The program's implementation period was originally programmed to last 60 months but has been extended by 24 months, with a new end date of March 2023. The Suaahara II program focuses on a multisector approach, with a special emphasis on gender equity and social inclusion (GESI), social and behavior change (SBC), and good governance. The program's activities are designed to drive change across four categories: Health and Nutrition, including water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH); Health Service Quality and Reach; Food Production/Security; and Stronger Governance for Nutrition. The program's Year 6 work plan covers the period from July 16, 2021, through July 15, 2022. The work plan was developed through a collaborative process involving the Suaahara II technical, operations, and finance managers, as well as government stakeholders and consortium partners. The plan prioritizes activities based on emerging findings from Suaahara II datasets and other national Nepal datasets, as well as Government of Nepal (GoN) priorities and feedback. The Suaahara II program's organizational structure includes a multisector consortium and strong partnerships with the GoN, the private sector, and other United States government-funded projects in overlapping geographic areas. The program's management structure includes a Chief of Party (COP), a Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP), and a Program Coordinator (PC), among others. The program's results framework includes four intermediate results: Improved Household Nutrition and Health Behaviors; Increased Use of Quality Nutrition and Health Services by Women and Children; Improved Access to Diverse and Nutrient-rich Foods by Women and Children; and Accelerated rollout of multisectoral nutrition plan through. The Suaahara II program's activities are designed to address the nutritional needs of women and children in under-served rural areas of Nepal. The program's approach is multisectoral, focusing on health and nutrition, health service quality and reach, food production/security, and stronger governance for nutrition.
