Abstract
The program aims to improve the nutrition and health of women and children in Nepal. The year four work plan, spanning from July 16, 2019 to July 15, 2020, outlines the key objectives and strategies for achieving this goal. The program focuses on four intermediate results: improved household nutrition and health behaviors, increased use of quality nutrition and health services by women and children, improved access to diverse and nutrient-rich foods by women and children, and accelerated rollout of the multisector nutrition plan through strengthened local governance. To achieve these results, the program will implement various interventions, including social and behavior change communication, gender and social inclusion, public-private partnerships, and emergency preparedness and response. The program will also strengthen the capacity of local governments and health facilities to provide quality nutrition and health services. This will involve training health workers, improving the management of health facilities, and enhancing the availability of essential medicines and equipment. Additionally, the program will support the development of a multisector nutrition plan, which will bring together government agencies, civil society organizations, and private sector partners to address the root causes of malnutrition. The program will also focus on improving the nutrition and health of adolescents, who are a critical population for addressing malnutrition. This will involve providing education and training on healthy eating habits, physical activity, and reproductive health. The program will also support the development of a social and behavior change communication strategy to promote healthy behaviors among adolescents. The program will be implemented in partnership with various organizations, including Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere (CARE), Family Health International 360 (FHI 360), Environmental and Public Health Organization (ENPHO), Equal Access Nepal (EAN), and Nepali Technical Assistance Group (NTAG). The program will also engage with local communities, government agencies, and private sector partners to ensure that the interventions are context-specific and responsive to the needs of the target population. The program will be monitored and evaluated through a robust results framework, which will track progress against the intermediate results and provide feedback for program adjustments. The program will also conduct regular data quality assessments to ensure that the data collected is accurate and reliable. Overall, the Suaahara II Good Nutrition Program aims to make a significant contribution to improving the nutrition and health of women and children in Nepal. The program's focus on strengthening local governance, improving the quality of nutrition and health services, and promoting healthy behaviors among adolescents will help to address the root causes of malnutrition and improve the overall health and well-being of the target population. The program will also engage with local communities, government agencies, and private sector partners to ensure that the interventions are context-specific and responsive to the needs of the target population. This will involve conducting regular community feedback sessions, engaging with local leaders and influencers, and ensuring that the program is aligned with the priorities and needs of the local communities.
