Abstract
The program aims to enhance the research capacity of Indonesian HEIs in science, technology, and innovation (ST&I), improve the enabling environment for quality research, and promote access to research and professional development opportunities for women. The Institute of International Education (IIE) implemented the SHERA program, which established Centers for Collaborative Research (CCR) within top Indonesian universities. The CCRs brought together Indonesian and U.S. scholars to conduct world-class research within priority research areas. The program's achievements in Quarter 2 FY 2019 include the publication of 35 international journal articles and 28 international proceedings, totaling 59% of the program's total target for the fiscal year. SHERA scholars also made significant contributions to international conferences, with 48 presentations by 28 men and 20 women. Additionally, 12 Indonesian scholars visited U.S. universities and 18 U.S. scholars visited Indonesian universities for program activities. The program's mentoring initiative saw 106 Indonesian scholars (35 males and 71 females) receive ongoing mentoring from U.S. university partners, exceeding the target for this fiscal year by 89%. The program also expanded its partnerships, with the addition of Temple University and Alabama A&M University (AAMU) as U.S. partner HEIs, increasing the total number of partner HEIs from 8 to 10. The program's progress demonstrates its commitment to enhancing research capacity, improving the enabling environment for quality research, and promoting access to research and professional development opportunities for women in Indonesia. The SHERA program's success is attributed to its collaborative approach, which brings together Indonesian and U.S. scholars to conduct world-class research. The program's achievements in Quarter 2 FY 2019 demonstrate its potential to make a significant impact in the field of science, technology, and innovation in Indonesia. The program's continued growth and expansion of partnerships will likely lead to further achievements in the coming quarters. The program's focus on mentoring and capacity building has been particularly successful, with 106 Indonesian scholars receiving ongoing mentoring from U.S. university partners. This initiative has helped to enhance the research capacity of Indonesian HEIs and promote access to research and professional development opportunities for women. The program's commitment to gender equality is evident in its efforts to promote access to research and professional development opportunities for women. The SHERA program's progress is also reflected in its expansion of partnerships with U.S. HEIs. The addition of Temple University and Alabama A&M University (AAMU) as partner HEIs has increased the total number of partner HEIs from 8 to 10. This expansion will likely lead to further achievements in the coming quarters, as the program continues to grow and expand its partnerships. In conclusion, the SHERA program's achievements in Quarter 2 FY 2019 demonstrate its potential to make a significant impact in the field of science, technology, and innovation in Indonesia. The program's collaborative approach, focus on mentoring and capacity building, and commitment to gender equality have been particularly successful. The program's continued growth and expansion of partnerships will likely lead to further achievements in the coming quarters.
