Abstract
The workshop was organized by The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and the Instituto del Bien Común (IBC), with funding from USAID's ICAA II project. The objective of the workshop was to capacitate indigenous communicators on the results of studies related to the IIRSA Centro project. Twenty-eight participants attended the workshop, representing 78% of indigenous organizations, 11% of non-governmental organizations, and 7% of affected communities. The participants showed a significant increase in knowledge, from 47% to 80%, after the workshop. The workshop included presentations on the feasibility of economic analysis, IIRSA in the South American context, and the use of historical land use in the project area. The workshop also included group work, where participants prepared presentations on the topics discussed. The presentations were well-organized and well-prepared, and each group presented their findings in a plenary session. The workshop concluded with a final evaluation, which showed that the participants had increased their knowledge by 33%. The workshop aimed to capacitate indigenous communicators on the IIRSA Centro project and its impacts. The idea is that the communicators will disseminate this information through their radio and television programs. The participants expressed their gratitude to the Grupo de Monitoreo and its allies for the results of the studies conducted by their technical team. The workshop was a success, and it achieved its objective of capacitating indigenous communicators on the IIRSA Centro project. The participants showed a significant increase in knowledge, and the workshop provided them with the necessary information to disseminate to their communities. The workshop also highlighted the importance of promoting the participation of women communicators in future events.
