Abstract
This module is designed to perform automatic estimated assessments for 'stop-filer' cases according to case management parameters. The system uses specific return templates and tax rules for estimated assessments. The module's functionality is described in the Use Cases section, which outlines the steps involved in preparing an estimated assessment automatically. The process begins with the Case Management module invoking an automatic case action, 'Generate estimated assessment.' The system then finds the filing obligation, sets the return source to 'Estimated Assessment,' and sets the return type according to system parameters. The system links the return to the case and invokes the tax rule. It then sets the estimated assessment status to 'assessment waiting for approval' and creates a 'Approve estimated assessment' task in the supervisor's ToDo list. The system also adds a case note indicating that the estimated assessment was prepared automatically. However, if the assessment fails, the system sets the status of the related case step to 'failed automatic processing' and sets the return status to 'assessment failed.' It also adds a case note indicating that the automatic estimated assessment failed and changes the mode of the related case step from automatic to manual. The ITMAS project is a part of the Technical Assistance for Policy Reform II, which aims to provide technical assistance to the Egyptian government in implementing policy reforms. The project is implemented by BearingPoint Inc. and is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
