Abstract
The initiative aimed to promote sustainable agricultural practices and improve the livelihoods of small farmers. Implementation of the program involved the installation of treadle pumps, which are simple, cheaper, and effective devices for water uplifting. The pumps are designed to lift water from a depth of up to 20 feet and can irrigate approximately 36450 square feet of land. The program also provided training to farmers on sustainable agricultural practices, including crop rotation, composting, and composting methods. The program's success can be attributed to the effective implementation of the interventions, which included the installation of treadle pumps, training of farmers, and market linkage facilitation. The program's focus on sustainable agricultural practices and sustainable agricultural practices has improved the livelihoods of small farmers in the Terai region of Nepal. The program's impact on the environment is also significant, as the use of treadle pumps reduces the need for diesel-powered pumps, which are a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. The program's focus on sustainable agricultural practices has also helped to improve soil health and reduce soil erosion. The program's success has also led to the creation of jobs and income opportunities for local communities. The program's focus on market linkage facilitation has helped to improve the market access of small farmers, enabling them to sell their produce at a higher price. The program's impact on the community is also significant, as it has improved the quality of life for small farmers and their families. The program's focus on sustainable agricultural practices has also helped to improve the health and well-being of the community. The program's success has also led to the replication of the program in other regions of Nepal.
