Abstract
The project's implementation period is from September 1, 2018, until August 31, 2023. Ma3an aims to strengthen community resilience and mitigate vulnerabilities in 30 communities across Tunisia. The project focuses on three main objectives: strengthening community resilience, mitigating community vulnerabilities, and enhancing the capacity of Tunisian partners to sustain and replicate the model. Ma3an will cover 30 communities over the project implementation period, with an interactive map developed to track progress and available infrastructure. The project has identified 17 communities for implementation in Year One, including Fernana-Ghardimaou, Kairouan North-Nasrallah, and Rouhia-El Aroussa. Sustainability activities will also cover Sharekna communities in El Kef, Kef City, Ariana, Ettadhamen, Manouba, Douar Hicher, Sidi Bouzid, and Sidi Bouzid center-Souk Jedid. The project has established partnerships with various organizations, including the Office of the Presidency of the Government of Tunisia and the Ministry of Education. Ma3an has also engaged with local civil society organizations, such as Search for Common Ground, IREX, JSF, CONECT, and IACE, to support community development and resilience. Ma3an's implementation is guided by a Performance Management Plan, which outlines key performance indicators and targets. The project also has a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Plan to track progress and identify areas for improvement. A Communication Plan has been developed to ensure effective communication among stakeholders, including community members, local authorities, and project partners. The project has made significant progress in its first year, with over 2,500 farmers receiving training in sustainable agriculture techniques. Ma3an's focus on community resilience and capacity building has led to improved food security indicators across all target communities. The project has also made progress in integrating cross-cutting issues, such as gender equality and female empowerment, sustainability mechanisms, and environmental compliance. The project's implementation challenges and lessons learned will inform future activities and ensure the project's sustainability. The project's reporting period is from April 1st to June 30th, 2019. Ma3an's progress will continue to be monitored and evaluated to ensure the project's objectives are met and its impact is maximized. The project's success will depend on the continued support of USAID and the collaboration of local stakeholders.
