Abstract
The project's goal is to increase the capacity of communities to withstand political, social, and economic stresses and shocks. Ma3an will cover 30 communities over the project implementation period, with an initial focus on 17 communities in Year 1. The project aims to strengthen community resilience, mitigate community vulnerabilities, and enhance the capacity of Tunisian partners to sustain and replicate the model. Ma3an will implement three main objectives: (1) community resilience is strengthened, (2) community vulnerabilities are mitigated, and (3) the capacity of Tunisian partners to sustain and replicate the model is strengthened. The project will achieve these objectives through various interventions, including community-based development, capacity building, and sustainability activities. The project will also focus on integrating cross-cutting issues, such as gender equality and female empowerment, sustainability mechanisms, environmental compliance, policy and governance support, local capacity development, and public-private partnerships. The project will be implemented by FHI 360, with core sub-partners Search for Common Ground and IREX, and local partners Jeunesse Sans Frontières, Institut Arabe des Chefs d'Entreprises, and the Confederation des Entreprises Citoyennes de Tunisie. The project will cover various governorates, including Jendouba, Kairouan, Siliana, Sousse, Tunis, Zaghouan, and El Kef. The project will also engage with various stakeholders, including the Presidency of the Government of Tunisia, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Ma3an will implement various activities, including community youth mapping, focus group discussions, key informant interviews, and training of trainers. The project will also establish a community resilience committee and a collaborative stakeholders action planning process. The project will monitor and evaluate its progress through a performance management plan, a monitoring, evaluation, and learning plan, and a communication plan. The project has made significant progress in the first quarter of 2019, with the establishment of a community resilience committee and the conduct of focus group discussions and key informant interviews. The project has also trained 15 community youth leaders and established a community-based development fund. The project has also engaged with various stakeholders, including the Presidency of the Government of Tunisia and the Ministry of Education. Ma3an will continue to implement its activities in the second quarter of 2019, with a focus on strengthening community resilience and mitigating community vulnerabilities. The project will also continue to engage with various stakeholders and monitor and evaluate its progress through its performance management plan, monitoring, evaluation, and learning plan, and communication plan. The project's sustainability activities will cover Sharekna communities in El Kef, Kef city, Ariana, Ettadhamen, Manouba, Douar Hicher, Sidi Bouzid, and Sidi Bouzid center - Souk Jedid. The project will also engage with various stakeholders, including the Presidency of the Government of Tunisia, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
