Sign inUSAID. MISSION TO KENYA
Grant to the National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) for a project to raise political, legal, and gender awareness among grassroots-based women and men in Kenya.
1996

Abstract
The project will concentrate on the development of materials to be used by Trainers of Trainers (TOTs) and community leaders in Kitui, Nyeri, Kilifi, and Siaya districts (where NCSW has yet to reach); these materials will address the following major issues: civic and human rights education; gender sensitization; participatory democratic practices; and empowerment of grassroots communities. The first stage will be preparation of a TOT manual, to be used in training trainers, who in turn will train community leaders. The second stage will be development of a kit for community leaders on content and strategies for training grassroots communities. To ensure sustainability and evaluate communities" progress, the TOTs will work with the targeted communities for at least 100 days.
