Abstract
The convention is a project of YOUTH AGENDA, an independent national youth initiative to forge a common future among Kenyan youth. Participants, aged 18 to 35 (and youth under 18 with special leadership potential) will include women, and be drawn from all sectors and every province in Kenya. The Convention will provide an opportunity for about 300 youth to meet; to examine Kenya"s policy framework for youth, democratization, constitutional change, gender sensitivity, and the approaching 1997 general elections; and to develop a youth agenda, including such issues as trade entrepreneurship, education, culture and sports, unemployed/underemployed, health and social matters, and youth professional/employed youth. The Convention will also feature exhibitions and displays of work by Kenyan youth. Post-Convention activities will include dissemination of a report on the Convention, lobbying for change, and continued networking.
