USAID Caribbean Clean Energy Program Year Three Work Plan

The program is implemented by Deloitte Consulting LLP and is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The program's overall approach emphasizes the importance of cross-cutting strategies and activities, including gender equality and social inclusion (GESI), regional operations and coordination, and cross-cutting communications. Task 1, Improving the Enabling Environment for Clean Energy Development, involves several activities, including improving capacity for low emission development in Jamaica, regulatory reform conducive to clean energy development, and an assessment to determine geographic focus in the Eastern Caribbean. Task 2, Optimizing Variable Renewable Energy Integration, includes activities such as utility loss reduction and energy efficiency promotion in Jamaica and greening the grid. Task 3, Accelerating Private Sector Clean Energy Investment, focuses on activities such as promoting clean energy investment in the private sector and developing a clean energy investment framework. Task 4, Energy Efficiency Benchmarking in the Hotel and Tourism Sector, involves activities such as developing a hotel energy efficiency benchmarking framework and conducting energy audits in hotels. Task 5, Coordination and Promotion of Other Donors, USAID, and USG Inter-Agency Activities in the Energy Sector, includes activities such as project coordination and sharing lessons learned with other island nations. Task 6, Technical Assistance and Coordination Support on Clean Energy Promotion within the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), involves activities such as the regional energy apprenticeship program, certified energy managers training, regional collaboration on efficient energy use in buildings, and the integration of clean energy into the Caribbean Community's energy policy. The program's geographic focus is on the Eastern Caribbean, with a specific emphasis on Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, and other OECS countries.
