Abstract
The replacement of generator windings was completed at units 1, 3, and 4, adding a capacity of 128 MW to the national grid. Spare seals and guides for relief and bypass valves on turbine side at units 1-10 have been installed. Installation of drainage and unwatering pumps is progressing as scheduled, and procurement of digital governors and a SCADA system is underway. During June, WAPDA's claim of $370,000 for installation of windings at unit 3 was verified and submitted to USAID/ENR for approval and further processing. Amendment-I of the Tarbela FARA revised the completion date of the project to December 31, 2012. As of June 2012, total disbursement of the $16.5 million USG funding committed for Tarbela is $10,879,917. The current status of the Tarbela FARA is as follows: replacement of damaged generator stator windings with Class F insulation windings for units 1, 3, and 4 has been completed, with 100% amount reimbursed. Installation of windings for unit 3 was completed on May 25, 2012, with 90% amount less spares reimbursed. Upgrading of the SCADA system for units 1-14 is under manufacture with ABB, with shipment expected in October 2012. Spare seals and guides for relief and bypass valves on turbine side for units 1-10 have been installed, with 100% amount disbursed to WAPDA. Training for 20 engineers from Tarbela power station on O&M in Switzerland has been completed, with 100% amount disbursed to WAPDA. The installation of new station drainage pumps received at Tarbela is in progress. Inspection of digital governors completed by WAPDA engineers at GE USA has been scheduled to be shipped to unit 3 at Tarbela Power Plant upon completion from GE USA in July 2012. The total amount disbursed as of June 2012 is $11,249,917, representing 68% of the total committed funding of $16.5 million. The project is progressing as scheduled, with completion expected by December 31, 2012.
