Abstract
The project began as a five-year cooperative agreement in 2015 and has undergone several extensions, with the latest extension approved in March 2023. The extension adds an additional $1,400,000 to the project, bringing the total estimated amount to $10,975,000. The GENESIS project has two specific objectives: to consolidate the Outreach Center (OC) network through multi-sectoral alliances to increase protective factors and promote a culture of peace, and to promote economic inclusion in high migration areas. The project has achieved a cost efficiency index of 0.94 percent, indicating that actual costs exceeded planned costs, and a schedule efficiency index of 0.76 percent, indicating that planned work was executed on schedule with a 0.24 percent deviation. During the third quarter of Fiscal Year 2024, GENESIS achieved several milestones, including the disbursement of funds by local governments in Choloma and La Ceiba to support the sustainability of OCs. Two nationwide campaigns, "Express Your Talent" and "Playing for My Rights," were also carried out in OCs. Additionally, three OCs achieved sustainability status, two in Choloma and one in Tegucigalpa, thanks to the support of local governments and alliances established by the project. The GENESIS project contributes to Development Objective 3 (DO 3): Justice and Security Improved to reduce irregular migration, under the new Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS). The project's interventions aim to foster GBV prevention and protection services provided by the OC platform and GENESIS's interventions in other nine municipal territories. In terms of results, GENESIS has achieved a significant increase in protective factors for at-risk youth and former gang members. The project has also promoted economic inclusion in high migration areas, with a focus on entrepreneurship and job creation. The GENESIS project has established partnerships with local governments, NGOs, and community organizations to ensure the sustainability of its interventions. The GENESIS project has also made significant progress in promoting a culture of peace and reducing GBV. The project has established a network of OCs that provide GBV prevention and protection services to at-risk youth and former gang members. The project has also carried out nationwide campaigns to raise awareness about GBV and promote a culture of peace. In conclusion, the GENESIS project has made significant progress in achieving its objectives and contributing to the development of Honduras. The project's interventions have increased protective factors for at-risk youth and former gang members, promoted economic inclusion in high migration areas, and fostered a culture of peace and reduced GBV. The project's sustainability is ensured through partnerships with local governments, NGOs, and community organizations.
