Abstract
The Task Order applies expertise in gender research and practice to the process of designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating USAID strategies, projects, and activities to reduce the gender and women's empowerment gaps that impede development outcomes. All USAID Operating Units can access technical services through GITA II. During this quarter, covering December 15, 2022 – March 15, 2023, Banyan Global carried out tasks under the following Mission-specific work orders: USAID/Niger Country-level Gender Analysis to inform the Mission's 2022-2027 Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS); USAID/South America Region (SAR) Fisheries Sector Gender Analysis; and USAID/Nigeria Gender Integration Technical Assistance. Banyan Global also carried out tasks with GenDev under the following scopes of work: Gender Integration, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Portfolio Technical Assistance, and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Portfolio Technical Assistance. Banyan Global continued convening events and facilitating communications for the USAID Women's Economic Empowerment Community of Practice (USAID WEE CoP), including holding a learning event and a coffee chat, distributing three monthly communications, and expanding both the LinkedIn group and USAID WEE CoP membership base. During this quarter, Banyan Global finalized the following GITA II technical deliverables under the active work orders listed in Table 1: a USAID WEE CoP learning event, a USAID WEE CoP coffee chat, communications to USAID WEE CoP members, a session and slide deck on "Integrating GBV in Economic Growth and Trade" for USAID/Nigeria IPs, and a session and slide deck on "Integrating GBV in Education" for USAID/Nigeria IPs. The table below presents works orders that were active during the period of the quarterly report, and each is described in Section 3: Status of Work Orders. The GITA II Primary work order, GenDev GBV Portfolio Technical Assistance, is a key component of the Task Order, providing technical assistance to USAID implementing partners (IPs) in various sectors and countries. The work order is implemented from September 18, 2020 – March 31, 2023, and covers GBV, Migration, Natural Resource Management, and other sectors in Cambodia, Colombia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, El Salvador, Fiji, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Kenya, Lesotho, Mexico, Panama, South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, and Vietnam. Banyan Global's work under the GITA II Task Order is closely aligned with the USAID Bureau for Development, Democracy, and Innovation (DDI) Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment (GenDev) Hub's goals and objectives. The Task Order's focus on gender integration, MEL, and GBV portfolio technical assistance is critical to USAID's efforts to reduce the gender and women's empowerment gaps that impede development outcomes.
