Abstract
With a particular focus on international sustainable development and economic assistance, the library's collection supports USAID's development efforts in its strategic objective areas: democracy and governance; economic growth; education and training; environment and agriculture; humanitarian assistance; and population, health, and nutrition. The library's collection includes over 10,000 items, with a significant portion dedicated to water and development. Key titles in this area include "Central Asia: Water and Conflict," which examines the relationship between water resources and conflict in the region. Another notable title is "Charging for Irrigation Water: The Issues and Options, with a Case Study," which explores the economic and social implications of charging for irrigation water in Sri Lanka. The library also features a range of publications on water management and policy, including "Water: Framework for Decision-Making" by the World Commission on Dams. This report provides a comprehensive framework for decision-making on water resources management, taking into account social, economic, and environmental considerations. Other notable titles include "Diplomacy on the Jordan: International Conflict and Negotiated Resolution" and "Hands On Food, Water and Finance: Practical Innovations for a Sustainable World." In addition to these publications, the library's collection includes a range of reports and studies on water conservation and management, including "Aquatic Zones for Developing Basin Water Conservation Strategies" and "Groundwater Resources: The Palestinian Case with an Overview." These reports provide valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities of water management in different regions and contexts. The library is open to the public and offers a range of services to support visitors, including assistance with using library resources and guidance on finding relevant information sources. The library is located on the mezzanine level of the Ronald Reagan Building, and visitors can enter through the glass doors marked USAID Information Center. The library is open from 9:00 to 4:30, Monday through Friday, except for government holidays.
