Abstract
The program aimed to promote inclusive workforce development and economic empowerment of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Indonesia. The initiative was funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the Youth Power: Implementation IDIQ Contract AID-OAA-I-15-00014. The program focused on six key tasks: partnership mapping and baseline information collection, management of non-U.S. led project implementers, provision of technical assistance to key stakeholders, partnership engagement and knowledge sharing, leveraging public and private sector resources, and employment and economic empowerment of PWDs. The program also included a feature stories section, which highlighted the experiences and achievements of individuals and organizations involved in the initiative. The program's progress towards expected results was monitored and evaluated through various indicators, including the number of service providers trained to serve vulnerable persons, the number of tertiary education institutions receiving capacity development support, and the number of individuals accessing the program's activities. The program also conducted institutional capacity assessments and provided technical assistance to key stakeholders, including government agencies and private sector organizations. One of the key components of the program was the employment and economic empowerment of PWDs, which aimed to increase the participation of PWDs in the workforce and improve their economic status. The program provided training and capacity development support to PWDs, as well as to service providers and employers, to promote inclusive workforce development practices. The program also engaged with various stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector organizations, and civil society organizations, to promote partnership and knowledge sharing. The program's activities were implemented in various locations across Indonesia, including East Java, West Java, and Central Java. The program's results and achievements were documented through various reports and publications, including the Mitra Kunci Partners and Their Expected Results table, which listed the program's partners and their expected results. The program also produced various knowledge products, including reports, briefs, and infographics, which were disseminated to stakeholders through various communication channels. The program's impact was significant, with over 64 PWDs accessing special classes and starting small enterprises using the equipment and skills they acquired. The program also trained over 57 university representatives in Bandung and provided capacity development support to over 20 industry partners. The program's activities also resulted in the creation of over 1,000 jobs for PWDs and the improvement of skills for over 10,000 individuals. Overall, the USAID Mitra Kunci Initiative was a successful program that promoted inclusive workforce development and economic empowerment of PWDs in Indonesia. The program's results and achievements demonstrate the potential of inclusive workforce development practices to improve the economic status and participation of PWDs in the workforce.
