Abstract
The activity was awarded to Global Communities, in partnership with the Kaizen Company, Partners for Good, and the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development, on March 26, 2017. The USAID YouthPower team's primary objective is to strengthen, establish, and increase access to local systems and programs that serve youth, with a focus on developing community resources for at-risk youth. The activity is guided by USAID/Jordan's Sub IR 3.2.3, which seeks to support the development of local systems and programs that serve youth. The USAID YouthPower team hypothesizes that learning and engaging at-risk youth in mapping community assets will increase youth participation in civil society by increasing awareness of existing opportunities and identifying gaps in opportunities. To achieve this objective, the USAID YouthPower team has implemented various activities, including outreach and engagement, learning sessions, and the establishment of a Youth Advisory Committee (YAC). The team has also launched the USAID Youth Network, which aims to provide a platform for youth to connect, share ideas, and access resources and opportunities. The USAID YouthPower team has made significant progress in the second quarter of FY18, including the identification of communities in all regions, outreach meetings in new communities, and the launch of youth-led workshops. The team has also established a strong partnership with the Government of Jordan, particularly with the Ministry of Youth, to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the activity. One of the key challenges faced by the USAID YouthPower team is the need to adapt to the changing needs and priorities of the target communities. The team has learned the importance of flexibility and adaptability in responding to the needs of at-risk youth and has developed strategies to address these challenges. The USAID YouthPower team has also made significant progress in monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL), with a focus on tracking key indicators and assessing the impact of the activity. The team has established a robust MEL system, which includes regular assessments, evaluations, and lessons learned. Looking ahead, the USAID YouthPower team plans to continue its efforts to strengthen community resources, increase access to opportunities, and promote civic engagement among at-risk youth. The team will also focus on sustainability and exit strategy, ensuring that the activity's impact is sustained beyond the life of the project. The USAID YouthPower team has made significant progress in the second quarter of FY18, and the activity is on track to achieve its objectives. The team's commitment to adapting to the changing needs of the target communities and its focus on sustainability and exit strategy will ensure the long-term impact of the activity.
