Abstract
The activity was awarded to Global Communities, in partnership with the Kaizen Company, Partners for Good, and the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development, on March 26, 2017. The task order, AID-278-TO-17-00001, is a five-year agreement that supports USAID/Jordan's Sub IR 3.2.3 by strengthening, establishing, and increasing access to local systems and programs that serve youth. The activity's target for success is to develop and strengthen local systems and programs that serve youth, with a focus on improving opportunities, well-being, and civic engagement. This is achieved through a range of interventions, including community outreach and youth engagement, learning and further education, gender inclusion, community mapping, and the youth innovation fund. Community outreach and youth engagement are critical components of the activity, with a focus on reaching marginalized and disadvantaged youth. The activity has established a network of community-based organizations and youth groups, which provide a platform for youth to engage in civic activities, access education and training, and participate in decision-making processes. The activity has also established a range of learning and further education programs, including training of trainers, mentorship, and capacity building for local organizations and youth groups. These programs aim to improve the skills and knowledge of youth, as well as the capacity of local organizations to deliver high-quality services. Gender inclusion is a key focus of the activity, with a commitment to ensuring that all programs and interventions are inclusive and responsive to the needs of girls and women. The activity has established a range of programs and initiatives aimed at promoting gender equality and empowering girls and women, including training and capacity building for local organizations and youth groups. Community mapping is another critical component of the activity, with a focus on identifying and addressing the needs of marginalized and disadvantaged youth. The activity has established a range of community mapping tools and processes, which provide a platform for youth to identify their needs and priorities, and for local organizations to develop targeted interventions. The youth innovation fund is a key component of the activity, providing financial support to youth-led initiatives and projects that promote positive youth development and civic engagement. The fund has supported a range of innovative projects and initiatives, including entrepreneurship, arts, and cultural programs. The activity has also established a range of monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) systems and processes, which provide a platform for tracking progress, identifying areas for improvement, and making data-driven decisions. The MEL systems include a range of indicators and metrics, which are used to track progress against the activity's targets and objectives. Overall, the USAID YouthPower activity is a comprehensive and integrated program that aims to improve opportunities, well-being, and civic engagement for youth in Jordan. The activity's focus on community outreach and youth engagement, learning and further education, gender inclusion, community mapping, and the youth innovation fund has made a significant impact on the lives of marginalized and disadvantaged youth, and has contributed to the development of a more inclusive and equitable society.
