Abstract
The task order, AID-278-TO-17-00001, aims to improve opportunities, well-being, and civic engagement for youth in support of USAID/Jordan's Sub IR 3.2.3. The activity seeks to strengthen, establish, and increase access to local systems and programs that serve youth. The USAID YouthPower target for success is to develop engagement and dialogue for youth in their communities. The team hypothesizes that learning and engaging at-risk youth in mapping community services will increase youth participation by increasing awareness of existing opportunities, identifying gaps in opportunities, and creating further opportunities to engage their local communities. Additionally, the activity aims to provide youth with opportunities to establish social entrepreneurial initiatives to generate income for themselves and other youth while overcoming identified social challenges. To prepare youth to engage in knowledge-based decision-making, the activity focuses on several key interventions. These include community outreach and youth engagement, learning and further education, gender and social inclusion, community mapping, and the Youth Innovation Fund. The activity also places a strong emphasis on collaboration and knowledge sharing, partnerships for sustainability, and branding communications and dissemination. The USAID YouthPower activity operates in Jordan, with a focus on supporting the country's youth. The activity targets at-risk youth, with a particular emphasis on those living with disabilities. Through its various interventions, the activity aims to increase youth participation, awareness, and engagement in their communities. The activity also seeks to provide youth with opportunities to establish social entrepreneurial initiatives and generate income for themselves and other youth. The activity's performance is tracked through a range of indicators, including the number of youth engaged in community mapping, the number of social entrepreneurial initiatives established, and the level of youth participation in local decision-making processes. The activity's progress is also monitored through regular assessments, evaluations, and lessons learned. The Most Significant Change (MSC) approach is used to assess the impact of the activity, while self-efficacy assessments are used to evaluate the effectiveness of the activity's interventions. The USAID YouthPower activity has made significant progress in its first year, with over 2,500 youth engaged in community mapping and over 500 social entrepreneurial initiatives established. The activity has also seen a significant increase in youth participation in local decision-making processes, with over 70% of youth reporting increased engagement in their communities. The activity's progress is expected to continue in the coming year, with a focus on scaling up its interventions and increasing its impact.
