Abstract
The hydel projects include Tarbela, Mangla, Golen Gol, and Kaitu Weir, while the transmission projects include Jhimpir 1 and Patrind. The MIMDR project is responsible for ensuring that these projects meet the required standards and are completed on time. The Tarbela Dam Repair and Maintenance Phase-II Project is currently underway, with the MIMDR Hydropower team planning to submit a Vendor Shipment Inspection report for PIL item 8 "Stainless Steel Runner" to USAID in the first week of April 2019. The Environmental team conducted quarterly monitoring on March 29, 2019, and recorded noise levels near all 10 power-generating units of the Tarbela project site. The team plans to submit an Environmental Monitoring Report (EMR) in the week of April 1, 2019. The Mangla Dam Rehabilitation Project also underwent quarterly environmental monitoring on March 25, 2019, during which noise levels were recorded at different working areas. The Environmental team plans to submit an EMR in the week of April 1, 2019. The Golen Gol Hydropower Project received a partial consignment under PIL item no. 13 "Erection and testing equipment and Maintenance tools and Spare Parts," with the remaining tools expected to arrive by the end of April 2019. The Environmental team plans to submit an EMR in the week of April 1, 2019. The Kurram Tangi Dam Project (KDTP) Stage-I: Kaitu Weir Hydropower Project is also being monitored, with the MIMDR Hydropower team addressing comments received from USAID on the KTDP site visit report. The team plans to submit a revised milestone schedule pending further comments. The Jhimpir 1 Wind Power Transmission System is currently under review, with MIMDR requesting NTDC to provide missing supporting documents required for verification and issuance of the Certificate of Line item Completion (CLC). The MIMDR team is also reviewing supporting documents of NTDC requisition no. W-JGM-10 (Disconnectors procured for 220/132 kV Jhimpir-1 Substation) and has pointed out that some of the Disconnectors are of low rating, being non-compliant to NTDC contract specification. The Power Transmission System for Patrind Hydropower Activity is in progress, with the erection of towers and stringing of conductor/Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) on the 132 kV Patrind-Mansehra Transmission Line. Progress achieved to date reported by NTDC includes foundation work, pile foundation, tower erection, stringing of conductor, and stringing of OPGW. The MIMDR team plans to issue a CLC and inspection report against NTDC requisition no. W-132TL-M-007 (Transmission Line hardware and Dampers procured for 132 kV transmission line Jhimpir-1 to TM Khan Substation) by next week.
