Project to provide core support to USAID/W"s women in development (WID) program.
1992

Abstract
The project will fund staff and technical support for WID activities that are not specific to nor funded by a USAID Mission or regional Bureau, with emphasis on four sectors: agriculture, private enterprise, education, and environment and natural resources. Women"s issues in democracy and AIDS will also be included in the project"s portfolio. Four types of services will be provided under the project. (1) The project will finance training related to the inclusion of gender issues in program/project design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Activities will included: managing training courses, developing course content, and forming teams of trainers both in the United States and host countries. (2) TA will be provided in project and program design in the key sectors noted above. (3) The project will finance selective applied research on gender issues in the key sectors. (4) A final component, to be housed in USAID/W"s Center for Development Information and Evaluation, will communicate the results of the first three project components to USAID staff, the donor community, and developing country organizations, and also gather feedback for ongoing program development. Services will include producing a WID newsletter and technical reports on gender issues, disseminating lessons learned, and maintaining resource materials in the Agency"s central library. (Abstract based on 4/20/92 Project Paper for a new phase of the Project, which has been operational since 1980.)
