Abstract
Prior to her current role, Ms. Iddrisu worked for the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation and the Petroleum Commission, where she gained experience in the oil and gas industry. Her education includes a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master's degree in Energy Studies and Finance from the University of Dundee. Ms. Iddrisu's career progression has been influenced by her supportive family and mentors. Her mother, a feminist, instilled in her a strong foundation in gender equality from a young age. Ms. Iddrisu credits her hometown in the Upper West Region of Ghana with shaping her interest in economic development. Her education and work experience have given her a passion for energy as a driver for development in West Africa. As a woman in a male-dominated industry, Ms. Iddrisu has faced challenges, but she has also received support from her male managers and female colleagues. She has been intentional about building the capacity of women in her company, providing one-on-one mentorship and fostering gender diversity on her team through inclusive hiring practices. Ms. Iddrisu's dedication to empowering women in the energy sector is exemplary of the changing attitudes and progress being made in the industry. Ms. Iddrisu's current team at Tullow Ghana manages commercial gas operations responsible for delivering approximately 20% of the country's thermal gas demand from the Jubilee and TEN fields. She is intentional about influencing the future of Ghana's oil and gas industry in terms of both energy production and gender equity. Ms. Iddrisu's story serves as an example of what can be accomplished when women in the energy sector are supported as they grow into industry leaders.
