Abstract
The project provides scholarship, training, and internship opportunities to job seekers, while enhancing the curricula, educational training, and job placement infrastructure and services of private technical and vocational education and training (TVET) partners. The project's objective is to provide technical assistance to support the CSP in designing and implementing Home Based Healthcare Services activities in curriculum development and integration, teacher assessment and training, TVET technical and administrative capacity assessment, and enabling environment issues around training and employment. This project will be developed in the four nursing schools of the Lebanese Red Cross (LRC). Between February 1, 2021, and April 29, 2021, several activities were completed. A thorough review of 31 academic and administrative policies and procedures of the LRC Faculty of Nursing – Baabda was conducted, and a report was developed including proposed recommendations and comments. The fundamentals of the Employment and Guidance Offices (GEO) in the LRC Nursing Schools were developed, and a presentation was made to the Dean of the LRC Faculty of Nursing and the CSP team. The presentation discussed the importance of having a GEO in the three LRC schools. Additionally, third-party assessors were identified to assess the teachers' capacity. Two universities, the American University of Beirut (AUB) and the Saint-Joseph University (USJ), were identified as having experts competent in the assessment of teachers. A workshop of 1 hour and 30 minutes was delivered via Zoom to the future guidance and employment (GE) officers of the three LRC Nursing Schools. The workshop aimed to equip the officers with the necessary skills to manage and operate the GEO. However, some activities were postponed due to delays in starting the vocational and soft skills trainings at the LRC. These activities include the observation and analysis of teachers involved in the delivery of the students' trainings and the assessment of the capacity of the teachers that will deliver the vocational training and the soft skills training. For the next reporting period, which ends on August 8, 2021, several activities are planned. These include the observation and analysis of teachers involved in the delivery of the students' trainings, the assessment of the capacity of the teachers that will deliver the vocational training and the soft skills training, the identification of third-party assessors for students, the support in the endorsement/certification of the technical training material, and participation in workshops and working group sessions.
