Abstract
The project was funded by USAID and implemented by The QED Group, LLC, in collaboration with the International Resource Group and Training Resources Group. The KDMD team managed work across six core activity areas, including Knowledge Stock, Knowledge Flow, Knowledge Infrastructure, Enabling Environment, Grants Under Contract (GUC) Management, and Assessing & Learning. The team's primary objective was to capture and share knowledge on microenterprise development and knowledge management through various products and platforms. In the Knowledge Stock area, the team increased the knowledge stock by posting over 350 new resources on microLINKS, a knowledge management platform. The team also created a resource section dedicated to the global financial crisis and developed Notes from the Field, which featured insights from leading practitioners. Additionally, the team designed a process for the MD office to develop comprehensive presentation materials on microenterprise development concepts and best practices. The Knowledge Flow area focused on strategies, techniques, approaches, and tools for promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing among practitioners. The team reviewed and updated the Activity Planning Guidance, which was used to assess and develop various knowledge products. The team also advised on and helped design communication products tailored for specific audiences, including print and digital materials. In the Event Production area, the team worked with MD to develop a pipeline of topics, identify and secure speakers, and organize seminars. The team refined, formatted, and branded presentations, advertised events to appropriate audiences, and recorded seminars. The seminars were organized with improved accessibility and participation through teleconferencing and video feeds. The KDMD team maintained regular contact with key organizations and firms to ensure effective collaboration and coordination. The team also contributed to the Microfinance Website Managers group, which provided a valuable working platform for increased communication and knowledge sharing. The team created targeted communications products and advised on the Value Chain Development wiki. The team's efforts resulted in the development of various knowledge products, including the Knowledge Assets Framework, which was created on a wiki to articulate basic microenterprise development concepts and best practices. The team also conducted audio interviews and special events, which were posted to microLINKS, reaching a total of 10 interviews for the year. The KDMD initiative aimed to promote microenterprise development and knowledge management in developing countries. The team's efforts focused on capturing and sharing knowledge through various products and platforms, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing among practitioners, and developing targeted communications products. The team's work resulted in the development of various knowledge products and platforms, which can be used to support microenterprise development and knowledge management initiatives in the future.
